Synchronous to the energy and intensity of the large port city, Sinfonia Rotterdam brings the music of classical masters to a large audience in a dynamic, penetrating way. During performances in concert series in Rotterdam, The Hague and Amsterdam, and on the many national and international stages, Sinfonia Rotterdam, led by the enthusiastic conductor Conrad van Alphen, knows how to involve the audience in the musical experience.
It has been ten years since Christine Tassan et les Imposteures started tending their craft in the gypsy jazz milieu and performing standards, and there is no doubt that they are definitely here to stay. Pioneers in a domain usually reserved for men and precursors of the gypsy wave that swept across Québec, this all-woman quartet continues to reinvent this timeless music while integrating new ideas and influences with an originality and flair we have become familiar with.
Children’s TV presenter Lindsey Russell narrates the disc and accompanying book of The Nutcracker and I, by Alexandra Dariescu: the story has been written by the notable classical music journalist and author Jessica Duchen with artwork created by Yeast Culture, illustrated by Adam Smith.
