This is an echo of the soul through the centuries, and a lesson in humanity written by the body.

Limón Dance Company is one of the most iconic dance companies in the history of modern dance in the world. It was founded by Mexican-American artist José Limón, one of the most outstanding dancers and choreographers of the 20th century. He was the first Latino choreographer to be widely recognized on the American mainstream stage and has profoundly influenced the development of American modern dance with his deep humanism, unique understanding of “body gravity” and works full of dramatic tension. Limón's choreographic philosophy emphasizes dance as a vehicle for the human spirit, and his works use the body as a language to speak of faith, compassion, strength, and dignity.

Since its founding in 1946, the company has not only continued to present Limón's masterpieces but has also endeavored to perpetuate his artistic spirit by inviting contemporary choreographers to create new works that revitalize the classic genre. The company has been hailed as the guardian of the cultural heritage of American dance and remains active in festivals and theaters around the world.
