Stuttgarter Kantorei (Choir)

The Stuttgarter Kantorei

The Stuttgarter Kantorei was founded by the monastery’s cantor Kay Johannsen in 1994. The ongoing artistic interpretation of compositions from the 20th and 21st century resulted in various invitations, for instance to the Berlin Philharmonics Concert Hall  or the Lucerne Festival 2004, where the Suttgarter Kantorei performed Frank Martin’s oratorio “Golgotha” together with the Academy Choir Lucerne and the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. During the famous German Choral Competition in 2006 the Stuttgarter Kantorei won a first prize and was awarded as the best choir of the German Federal Land Baden-Württemberg. Before that the Stuttgarter Kantorei received awards at several Federal Choral Competitions in 1997, 2001 and 2005.
